Visiting Nurse Services in Westchester (VNSW) has launched a new clinical program to help reduce instances of sepsis among the close to 10,000 patients it serves each year. Beginning in August, VNSW began screening its homecare patients for signs and symptoms of sepsis using a new interactive Sepsis Screening, Education and Early Intervention tool.
VNSW was delighted that Westchester County Executive, George Latimer, and County Commissioner of Senior Programs and Services, Mae Carpenter, recently accompanied RN Diana Valdes on a home visit to one of our patients. The visit took place during the recent heat wave, and the visit highlighted the need to check on the elderly and those with chronic health conditions during periods of excessive heat.
Visiting Nurse Services in Westchester (VNSW) announced the opening in mid-May of its new branch office, located in Hopewell Junction in Dutchess County. A pilot program to launch later this fall will equip a group of staff members with the POM safety device, instantly connecting them to emergency responders through a sophisticated GPS tracking and alert system.
Joann Parliament has been appointed VNSW's new Director of Patient Services after serving as Acting Director since March 2018. Joann has a distinguished record of service to the agency, serving in a number of leadership roles for more than 30 years -- most recently as Director of Admissions for the past 15 years.
