Record-Breaking Turnout Boosts Support for Critical Home Healthcare and Community Health Education Programs

Unprecedented changes in today's healthcare landscape means that home healthcare organizations like VNS Westchester are more vital than ever in ensuring the health of community residents. That, and an abundance of appreciation led a record-breaking crowd of over 200 friends, donors and healthcare partners to generously contribute close to $125,000 to VNS Westchester at its 17th annual benefit gala held May 12 at the Willow Ridge Country Club in Harrison.

Hosted by Michael Gargiulo, NBC4 New York Anchor, the gala's awards ceremony honored Frank A. Corvino, chairman of the Greenwich Hospital Foundation as recipient of VNSW's Distinguished Service Award. and Dr. Sumir Sahgal, chief medical officer of EssenMed House Calls, recipient of the agency's Community Leadership Award.

Proceeds from the Spring Benefit Gala directly support VNS Westchester's efforts to provide expanded programs, complimentary care services, and charitable care for its home healthcare patients in Westchester, the Bronx, Dutchess, Putnam and Rockland counties. Funds also support the wide range of free community health education programs and services that the agency provides to seniors and other populations in the five-county area it serves. The annual event is critical in helping the nonprofit agency to fulfill its mission, as many of the services it provides are not reimbursable by government or other sources.

Kyle O'Loughlin-Cahill, FACHE, Chairman of the Board of the Westchester Visiting Nurse Services Group, Inc., announced that Lou Nemnom resigned his position as President & CEO, effective December 5th. The Board accepted his resignation and thanked Nemnom for his contributions to the agencies over the past three and a half years. As an interim step, the Board named Timothy Leddy, the current CFO, as Acting CEO.

 

 

Industry veteran will manage finances at $38 million home healthcare agency

Timothy P. Leddy has joined Westchester Visiting Nurse Services Group, Inc. (WVNS) as our new Chief Financial Officer. Leddy brings over three decades of leadership in the healthcare financial management field to the role. He will be responsible for all fiscal operations for WVNS, which comprises VNS Westchester and its affiliate, Westchester Care at Home.

During a distinguished career, Leddy has developed a deep expertise in the home healthcare industry. Most recently, he was President & CEO at the Brooklyn-based Visiting Nurse Regional Healthcare System (VNR).

Three new appointments to the Westchester Visiting Nurse Services Group Board were announced at its meeting in May, including Kyle O'Loughlin-Cahill, Board Chair (photo above); Dr. Amy Ansehl, Vice-Chair; and Board Member, James R. Martell. Ms. Cahill and Dr. Ansehl have been members of the Board since 2010 and 2011, respectively, while Mr. Martell was newly elected to the Board.

Ms. Cahill, FACHE, has more than 20 years of leadership experience at a wide range of healthcare organizations in the region. She has extensive background in strategic growth, financial analysis and management, regulatory compliance issues and quality improvement, among other areas of expertise. She is currently a Consultant in Quality Management at the Oscar Health Insurance Company in New York City.

Dr. Ansehl has served as Executive Director, Partnership for a Healthy Population, Director of Public Health Practice and Assistant Professor in the School of Health Sciences and Practice at the New York Medical College since 2000, and was recently promoted to Associate Professor. She has advanced numerous public health initiatives through strategic partnerships with nonprofit organizations, public health departments, and governmental agencies and has secured major grant funding for a range of academic and public health programs.

Mr. Martell is currently an Audit partner in KPMG's New York Healthcare and Not-for-Profit practice. He has more than 30 years of industry experience providing auditing and advisory services to healthcare providers and non-profit organizations, with expertise in financial due diligence assistance, reimbursement, financial management and third-party reimbursement.
