Visiting Nurse Services in Westchester & Putnam Honored by City of White Plains

Proclamation marks agency milestone as leading healthcare provider in the city
February, 5th 2013 in Press Releases

Mayor Thomas M. Roach of White Plains today presented a Proclamation to Visiting Nurse Services in Westchester & Putnam (VNSWP), honoring the agency on the occasion of its 40th anniversary headquartered in White Plains. The presentation to VNSWP President/CEO, Elias M. (Lou) Nemnom, and Board Chair, Patricia W. Siebecker, was made at City Hall, with the Mayor officially designating December 13, 2012 as “Visiting Nurse Services in Westchester & Putnam” Day.

The Proclamation cites the vital role the agency has played in providing essential home and community healthcare services to people of all ages – both locally and throughout Westchester County –  for 111 years (the agency expanded its services to Putnam in 2011).

According to Mayor Roach, VNSWP “is a well-respected nonprofit home healthcare agency and community service provider. It is also a major employer headquartered in our city, with more than 500 professional and support staff.  I’m pleased to honor the contributions the agency continues to make to the social and economic fabric of the great City of White Plains.”

VNSWP is the largest provider of home healthcare services in the county, offering skilled nursing, rehabilitative therapies, and home health aide services to people of all ages.  Last year, the number of home visits it made to patients – over 176,000 visits to more than 9,300 people – significantly exceeded the state and national average.

In his Proclamation, the Mayor also recognized the agency’s community healthcare initiatives, including free health screenings, programs on preventive care, and influenza vaccination programs held at local senior centers, places of worship, schools and companies.

“We’re thrilled to have this 40-year milestone celebrated today,” said Nemnom. “Like White Plains itself, our agency has grown over the past few decades to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse population. Our presence among the city’s healthcare institutions has enabled us to foster collaborations that enhance the health and well-being of community residents.”
