May 2020 is National Nurses Month!
Today, May 6th, kicks off National Nurses Week, an annual observance to celebrate the essential role nurses play in promoting public health. For 2020, the entire month of May has been designated National Nurses Month to expand opportunities to elevate and celebrate nursing. In the wake of the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, the time to celebrate the extraordinary contributions of nurses has never been more fitting.
At VNS Westchester and Westchester Care at Home, we couldn’t be prouder of our home care nurses who are out on the front lines providing exceptional care for Covid-19 patients every day. They are the next and best line of defense for scores of patients who are being discharged from hospitals to recover at home under our watchful eye.
Our nurses have always been known for going the extra mile, and they continue to do so under the most adverse conditions nurses have seen since the Spanish flu pandemic over a century ago. They are risking their own health and safety to make sure that patients receive the care they need, and that the patients’ entire household becomes a safe haven for recovery.
At a time when our patients are feeling isolated, our nurses are there to provide comfort, care and compassion. They are helping to allay fears, while providing a strong measure of HOPE to all.
Our heartfelt thanks to our nurses, and to all of our home care team, for all you do!
