VNSW Nurses Brave the Elements to Deliver Essential Care

During this severe winter season, elderly and infirm patients can feel particularly isolated. For some, care or company often arrives only when caregivers are able to navigate the often-treacherous roads. But "when a patient needs a visit," said VNS Westchester director of community education, Mary Gadomski, "we absolutely have to get there."

In today's NY Times story, read how VNSW nurse, Tam Marino, braved the icy hills of Yonkers during the height of the latest snowstorm -- skidding, getting stuck, and finally slogging by foot the last quarter-mile -- to provide essential care for her patient.
