As an extension of our Smoking Cessation Program for patients, VNSW is co-sponsoring a series of 4 classes in March with the Scarsdale Medical Group designed to help community residents stop smoking. Conducted by our Tobacco Cessation Specialist, Sara Somerville, the class teaches participants skills and techniques to help them quit the habit for good, leading to improved health.
The Westchester Visiting Nurse Services Group, Inc. Board announced that Timothy P. Leddy was unanimously chosen to erve as the next President and CEO of the Westchester Visiting Nurse Services Group. In this role, he will assume leadership of the Group's affiliated agencies, VNS Westchester and Westchester Care at Home, effective immediately.

The Westchester Visiting Nurse Services Group, Inc., the parent company of VNS Westchester and Westchester Care at Home (WCAH) has appointed Harvey Levine as Westchester Care at Home's new Administrator. Mr. Levine has more than 25 years experience in the licensed home care industry.

Individuals and families coping with debilitating illnesses, decreased mobility and loss of function need much support in the home setting. The stress on the patient and the family can be overwhelming as patients are often confined to bed or a chair. Now, in addition to providing their clinical expertise and guidance to help patients better manage their conditiions, VNS Westchester's nurses have another "gift" to offer -- Invacare "geri-chairs" -- generously donated by the Rose Art Foundation.
The Board of Westchester Visiting Nurse Services Group, Inc., parent organization of VNS Westchester and our affiliate, Westchester Care at Home, announced the following appointments to its governing Board at the Group's May 26th meeting: Dr. Amy Ansehl, a Board member since 2011, was named Board Chair, and Deb Swee, also a member of the Board since 2011, was elected Vice-Chair.
Unprecedented changes in today's healthcare landscape means that home healthcare organizations like VNS Westchester are more vital than ever in ensuring the health of community residents. That, and an abundance of appreciation led a record-breaking crowd of over 200 friends, donors and healthcare partners to generously contribute close to $125,000 to VNS Westchester at its 17th annual benefit gala held May 12 at the Willow Ridge Country Club in Harrison.
Hosted by Michael Gargiulo, NBC4 New York Anchor, the gala's awards ceremony honored Frank A. Corvino, chairman of the Greenwich Hospital Foundation as recipient of VNSW's Distinguished Service Award. and Dr. Sumir Sahgal, chief medical officer of EssenMed House Calls, recipient of the agency's Community Leadership Award.
Proceeds from the Spring Benefit Gala directly support VNS Westchester's efforts to provide expanded programs, complimentary care services, and charitable care for its home healthcare patients in Westchester, the Bronx, Dutchess, Putnam and Rockland counties. Funds also support the wide range of free community health education programs and services that the agency provides to seniors and other populations in the five-county area it serves. The annual event is critical in helping the nonprofit agency to fulfill its mission, as many of the services it provides are not reimbursable by government or other sources.
Our Spring Benefit Gala held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at The Willow Ridge Country Club in Harrison, was a smashing success! We had a record turnout for the event which helped to support our enhanced home health care services and free community health education programs offered in Westchester, the Bronx, Dutchess, Putnam and Rockland counties.
